Regional Assignments

Each year, AAFCS Student Unit Officers are responsible for serving as the contact person for a particular region within the nation. Student members in each affiliate in that region come to rely on that officer as a source of information and also as a support for the activities of their organization at the local, state, and national level.

The regional assignments are based on a rotation system indicated in the SU Chapter Guidelines. Although an officer may not reside in the region for which he/she is responsible, he/she will assume the role of regional contact for the duration of his/her term. Of course, this does not mean that the officer should hesitate to assist members in the region of their residence. In fact, all officers are expected to be of service to any member, chapter, or affiliate that expresses a need to them.

The Chair and Vice Chair of Outreach and Service do not appear on the rotation schedule. It is assumed that the Chair (Kristin Warner, kristinlwarner@gmail.com) will coordinate communication between all regions. The Vice Chair of Outreach and Service (Sarah Collentine, sccollentine@gmail.com) will also be expected to serve, in particular, as a resource for the graduate students in the section.

The AAFCS SU Officers will send out informational mailings, via e-mail, to the contact person for each affiliate within their region. The SU electronic newsletter, “In the Know” is also sent on an average of once every two months to all SU members.

The Chair and Vice Chair of Outreach and Service are not assigned specific regions. However, the Chair is responsible for serving members nationwide (as are all officers), and the Vice Chair of Outreach and Service will focus primarily on the needs of all graduate students within our section.
