About the Session

Inspire career confidence in your FCS classroom by illustrating the broad scope of the career options available in the FCS Career Pathway courses. Learn how to integrate FCCLA tools and resources to bring career exploration to life! This webinar will be a “can’t miss” for FCCLA Advisers and FCS teachers who want to ensure they are showcasing the Career Pathways focus in their courses through FCCLA integration.

 After this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Gain understanding of the career pathways related to FCS;
  • Learn how to incorporate lessons on the career pathways in the classroom;
  • Explore other career pathway tools and resources; and
  • Discuss methods of teaching career pathways in FCS curriculum.

About the Presenter(s)

Ashley Nelson, CFCS, is the Professional Development Manager on the FCCLA National Staff in Reston, VA and former Family and Consumer Science teacher in MN.  She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Family Social Sciences and her Masters of Education in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Minnesota. She is an active member of the National, Virginia and Minnesota affiliates of AAFCS. In addition she is the author of Learning ZoneXpress curriculum 50 App Activities for Life Skills, 50 Apps for Careers and 50 Apps for Food Safety and Sanitation and her blog ashleysfacsoflife.blogspot.com.  Ashley has had many careers leading her to, and preparing her for the FCS profession, including retail work in a national craft store, and careers in hospitality, including resort management and apartment leasing.  She is always searching for new ways to help FCS Educators and FCCLA advisers be successful and recognized. #Sayyestofcs
