AAFCS Virtual Professional Development

Join AAFCS to receive this AAFCS members only benefit!  The AAFCS Virtual Professional Development (VPD) program offers members an opportunity to acquire professional development in FCS areas and earn PDUs (Professional Development Units). AAFCS offers Virtual Professional Development educational modules. Each educational module includes the following:

  • 30-minute recorded video presentation
  • Supplemental materials and instructional resources
  • PDU Certificate

AAFCS Professional Certification

Becoming certified is the most credible credential a family and consumer sciences professional can achieve. Certification is based on individual mastery of knowledge common and essential to all family and consumer sciences professionals as verified by a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and successful completion of the national competency-based examination.

FCS University Programs

Membership in the Assembly of Higher Education is available for AAFCS-accredited programs and non AAFCS-accredited units. The unit can be defined as a college, school, division, department, or other institutional entity that prepares students for the family and consumer sciences profession. The Unit must be identified clearly in the institution's catalog(s), bulletins, and other public information documents.

AAFCS Leadership Academy The AAFCS Community on Building Leadership Capacity offers the AAFCS Leadership Academy for new professionals who wish to design their own leadership plan in order to secure their preferred future as leaders in AAFCS. (Preference given to those with BS degree or greater with 7 years or less of membership in AAFCS)
